golden time of day.

When the sun settles down and it takes a lovely form
That's the golden time of day

People let me tell you
There's a time in your life when you find who you are
That's the golden time of day

since the pandemic, i’ve established a bit of a routine. after work, i typically detox from the day by doing a few sessions on my Peloton. then, i completely unwind and head to bed around 9/10pm. prior to the pandemic, i wasn’t one for routines—totally rooted in my disdain for living a monotonous/mundane life. except, i found that as i was evolving during the pandemic the routine became more spiritually grounding for me than anything else.

i consult with a healer/spiritual adviser from time-to-time. during my initial session, i was instructed to devote more time to nurturing myself. this is deeper than self-care, as this guidance demanded that i become intentional about spending time with and appreciating myself. for the first time in a long time, as opposed to finding reasons to be on the move i was finding reasons to tune in to and listen to myself. i was starting to fully engage with myself in a way that was more healing and soothing. doing so not only allowed me to show up confidently for myself, but i was also able to show up for others in a truly authentic way—and, like never before.

perhaps it’s the influence of my scorpio moon (+ rising), but i literally soak up everything in my surroundings. that’s right, the good and the not so great. this means that i usually have to work overtime to re-center and realign after being overexposed to certain types of energy. this also means that i have to cherry pick the types of spaces i choose to show up in, and also the types of people i allow into my space and energy. prior to my healing process i felt burdened by this. fast forward, i feel more empowered than ever. i feel like i’m able to completely take ownership of my choices and experiences, and play an active role in how i collaborate with God on a daily basis.

and that’s really the beauty of taking the time to understand who you are. that type of work begs you to embrace all of who you are, and approach life more confidently.

my golden time of day consists of reading or journaling like hell. it has become a ritual, part of my daily practice. quite honestly, it’s the highlight of my day. i’m able to reflect on key moments from the day and practice gratitude. i recently learned that it’s beneficial to rise and set with the sun. obviously, the timing of this practice will vary based on time of year, but i can see how adopting this approach serves a greater purpose. the sun is our ultimate energy source. physically aligning with a force such as this is sure to amplify the manifestation of one’s day-to-day intentions.

taking the time to meditate and convene with myself makes even greater space for me to convene with God. that dedicated time to myself has not only validated me plenty, but has also been key to the development of my intuition and my capacity to trust myself. i lean into myself, and therefore lean into God and His purpose for my life.
